Plots(1)

Based on a novel by Harry Kressing. Mercenary layabout Michael York talks himself into a footman's job at the estate of dissipated countess Angela Lansbury. In his efforts to advance himself socially and monetarily, York stops at nothing--including murder. He is eventually roasted on his own spit, courtesy of Lansbury's gross, ugly daughter Jane Carr. Guiding the debauched destinies of the characters is none other than Broadway luminary Harold Prince. (official distributor synopsis)

English On the one hand I wondered if this was a bizarre comedy, whilst on the other I wondered if it was being serious. Either way you look at the film, you still come away with an interesting spectacle that is slightly creepy, but which also isn't afraid to show us something a little different. Unfortunately, it also feels like it's not really going anywhere. ()
