Plots(1)

All of the loveable characters are back - Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo, King Julien, Maurice and the penguins - in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. They find themselves in the wildest place of all - the vast plains of Africa - where our zoo-raised crew encounter species of their own kind for the very first time. While discovering their roots, they quickly find the differences between the concrete jungle and the heart of Africa. Despite long-lost relatives, romantic rivals and scheming hunters, Africa seems like a great place...but is it better than their Central Park home? (official distributor synopsis)

English This is a dry copy of the first film that just recycles the best and boils the rest in infantilism. The monkeys deserve a diploma for their participation and the penguins a massive monument! ()

English The penguins and the monkeys should revolt, occupy DreamWorks and shoot their own movie without cheap moralizing, babbling or falling critters, singing and dancing, and mainly no annoying hag with a bag. They could keep Hans Zimmer though, his Morricone parodies still (just about) amuse me. ()

English The scenario even resigned to just hints of a complex story, favorite characters are given more space at any cost, and the humorous side is played in both the primary and secondary plans. And thanks to that, it works a class better than the first part. Although the sequel to Madagascar is perhaps in all respects a pure calculation, the penguins and lemurs make people laugh, the zebra crowd laughs like crazy, and the favorite hypochondriac side of desperate Melman does not lag behind. If the unbearable and embarrassingly unfunny action grandma had not shown up, Escape 2 Africa could aspire to enter the group of truly successful animations. Without empty hints like "the cycle of nature," which annoyed in the first part, it really wasn't far from that. 70% ()

English I want that long-promised show with the penguins, they are the only ones who can lift the corners of a person's mouth in the right direction. ()

English In every way better than the first film. Less infantile, funnier for adults, better animated and (at least in the first half) a less predictable cartoon with the spirit of classic animated cartoons. The monkey unionists bidding on penguins had me laughing to tears, but this time it wasn't just one of several hilarious jokes - this time it was one of many. ()

English A little better and funnier than the first one. The story is still very childish, and although there are a lot of new characters, the original four and the penguins in particular, who are true masters of supporting roles, continue to be the driving forces. Moreover, whether it wants it or not, it looks like a blatant rip-off of The Lion King, which is especially disappointing considering that that film was much more enjoyable to watch and had a lot to say to adults... Madagaskar 2 would never be able to do that. 60% ()

English The freshness and novelty of the first one is a bit lacking in the second Madagascar, but it is still a watchable sequel. What hurts the film the most is that pushes too hard on the humour. especially in the characters of the aggressive NY grannies and the lion villain. The sequel deals more with the relationships within the central four characters, which makes for some more serious scenes. The biggest portion of fun is again provided by the penguins, and last but not least by (the immortal) Mort. ()

English I really liked the first part a lot, the third one also entertained me quite a bit, but the second one is a dull place for me, where it basically just repeats what happened in the first film and surprisingly, it's not as funny anymore. Some characters, even the main ones, seem annoying to me, more than any other. Well, I probably won't go through this again. I somehow associate "Madagascar" with the Ice Age and I have to say that I overall prefer that series. ()
