For us, a somewhat distant topic - if it is about Ting Sing, he might be a recognized celebrity in China, but in Europe, he remains an unknown figure. The topic of exploring sexual identity has the potential to be interesting if presented in a more appealing form. Here, the camera helplessly follows the main character for long minutes with minimal commentary, as they walk down the street, drive a car, etc. The only interesting moment in the documentary was the meeting with the father, who is a significant leader of the Chinese secret police and a conservatively thinking communist, who had to come to terms with the change of gender and profession of their child.
