Plots(1)

A mixture of 3D animated characters and real, non-animated landscape shots without dialogue and voice over. This unusual, off-beat mix will drop us into the tall grass of the countryside in order to observe the daily lives of insects, shot through the distorting lens of burlesque comedy and poetry. The characters are modelled in 3D and then integrated and animated into real nature footage. This technique will allow us to show the insects as cartoons, while still maintaining the naturalistic aspects of an animal documentary. The episodes are extremely visual and are structured like Warner Brothers’ cartoons from the 50s, meaning, for the most part, that they are more storyboard-driven. This technique creates a lot of opportunity for visual gags. The style of the series is a deft - balancing act between realism and cartoon. To enhance this visual universe, the sound effects and the musical score play an important role, thus creating a unique, tiny insect world language that is understood by young and old alike. The numerous sound effects reinforce the slapstick humor and the comical effect. (Beyond Home Entertainment)
