There is another darkly romantic duo before "Casablanca," but this time portrayed by Clark Gable and my beloved Joan Crawford. Their relationship is not as tragically romantic, but it is still unconventional. There are interesting characters here, although Pig is slightly underutilized, but otherwise it is a wonderfully cast film, with intense scenes on the ship.
