Varga János, a work safety inspector is told to retire as an old age pensioner. He has been living alone for years, and has brought up his son, a now university student, on his own. During the period of nationalization he still filled the position of the factory director. Now, he feels that the world around him has greatly changed, but he does not understand what kind of administrative machinery and why was playing with him, why is that even his son wants to leave him to move to live in the country with his love although he keeps saying that he understands him. Together with a few other retired comrades of his, he tries to answer the why of an empty and lonely life. (official distributor synopsis)
