It's Halloween night, and video clerk Stan Helsing (Steve Howey of Reba) along with his insanely sexy ex-girlfriend (Diora Baird of The Wedding Crashers and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), his best buddy (Kenan Thompson of SNL) and an "exotic dancer / massage therapist" (Desi Lydic) - detour into a town cursed by parodies of 6 of the biggest monsters in movie history: Freddy (A Nightmare On Elm Street), Jason (Friday The 13th), Pinhead (Hellraiser), Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Chucky (Child's Play) and Michael Myers (Halloween). But when Stan discovers that he's a direct descendant of the legendary monster hunter Van Helsing, the four have to survive a night with the monsters, homicidal hitchhikers, vampire strippers, killer karaoke, and the temptations of lots of hot chicks. Did we mention that Leslie Nielsen of Airplane! and The naked Gun co-stars in this hysterical horror spoof written and directed by one of the guys who brought you Scary Movie? This is really not funny at all. I wouldn't mind at all if the creators were making fun of horror movies, but going this way really doesn't make any sense. It's pitiful, it's tiresome, and there wasn't even one single joke here that would make me smile. This is really bad for a comedy. The toilet humor in this execution is pathetic.

It's not total crap, but it’s close. About 95% of Stan Helsing amounts to an incredibly lame film that would love to poke fun at horror movies starring the most famous killers (Freddy, Mike, Pinhead, Leatherface, etc.,). But it’s not very good at it. Leslie Nielsen is responsible for the funniest moments, but he's not exactly full of jokes either (more like we are glad to see him), then there are a few other moments like Freddy's multi-functional gloves, karaoke, and the final scene. Stan Helsing is better than Scary Movie (the first two), but it's not up to the level of Superhero Movie (staying with recent parodies).
