Stone

Trailer 2

Plots(1)

Jack Mabry (De Niro), a parole officer days away from retirement, is asked to review the case of Gerald "Stone" Creeson (Norton), in prison for arson. Now eligible for early release, Stone needs to convince Jack he has reformed, but his attempts to influence the older man's decision with his wife Lucetta (Milla Jovovich) have profound and unexpected effects on them both. This tale of passion, betrayal and corruption skillfully weaves together the parallel journeys of two men grappling with dark impulses, as the line between lawman and lawbreaker becomes precariously thin. English I understand what Stone is trying to do, but the problem is that this is not what a psychological drama should be. The script and direction are both helpless, and the result is only one star for Edward Norton's traditionally excellent performance. Otherwise, major talent is required to kill a cast and a promising concept like this. Overall impression: 25%. ()

English I didn’t expect such a travesty. The cast is decent, unfortunately only on the poster. Otherwise, it's average, or rather, below average (Milla Jovovich). A film without energy, without emotions, without any significant scenes. Robert "sit the fuck down" De Niro hasn't been lucky with good projects lately. John Curran is not a good filmmaker. ()

English I’m mainly sorry for the criminally under-utilized cast. I mean, the topic of Stone isn’t bad at all, but the script doesn’t offer much and the director didn’t manage to give the movie anything apart from some pretty shots. And the ending was one big disappointment. ()
