Beastly is a teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty. 17-year-old Kyle (Alex Pettyfer: I Am Number Four) is the spoiled, shallow and an incredibly popular prince of his high school kingdom. Entirely captivated and empowered by his own physical appearance, Kyle foolishly chooses Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), a goth classmate rumoured to be a witch, as his latest target for humiliation. Unfazed by his cruel behaviour, Kendra decides to teach him a lesson--she transforms him into someone as unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside. (Lionsgate Home Entertainment)

English Vanessa's character strikes me as a shallow little lady who thinks she's better than everyone else, although apparently the filmmakers tried to portray her somewhat differently, even so her character was just a false facade to me. In other words, Vanessa can't act. What’s sad is that the best thing about the movies is the soundtrack and Kyle's disfigurement, otherwise it sucks. Full of holes. Crawling with moths. And worms. On the leg of a corpse. ()

English This modern take on the classic Beauty and the Beast is definitely not one of the better ones. The beginning in particular can be quite discouraging to watch, but if you give it a chance, it's quite watchable. The film will probably not appeal to men, but it will certainly appeal to a woman of the right age and mood. (50%) ()
