A beautifully atmospheric and at times a pretty tense and unclassifiable film. Until about the middle, I didn’t have any complaints whatsoever, I hadn’t felt that tense in a long time, but then the plot goes in a completely different direction, which, despite the irrational behaviour of the protagonist, would have been fine if there was something that would explain it, like a twist. Unfortunately, there is no twist and the film closes with the most banal ending ever, which makes me feel that The Uninvited Guest is not a Lynchesque mystery that you have to put together piece by piece to gradually reveal its meaning, but actually just a film with a weird script lacking any hidden meaning – it’s just weird. Regardless, it’s worth watching, the tension in the first half is guaranteed.
