Stanwyck is a waitress engaged to Toomey. His mother (Clara Blandick) opposes her son's marriage to someone as common as Stanwyck. Blandick goes to her friend Oscar Apfel, a judge, who gets Stanwyck sent to a prison workhouse for a three-month sentence. After her release, Stanwyck becomes an overnight musical sensation and renews her romance with Toomey. His mother finally consents to the marriage since Stanwyck's social status has been raised. Stanwyck was a replacement for the originally slated Lila Lee. (official distributor synopsis)
