English The Loft is an entertaining movie with a nice formal side, an interesting cast and a surprising finale full of questions. However, it focuses more on conforming to genre formulas than on creating a distinctive, refined work that would be equally (or even more) interesting when watched again. Alas, it’s a mainstream remake with an almost stellar cast, and such films are only rarely capable of that. ()

English It's a modern homage to Hitchcock, but the content is too layered and the screenwriting too inept. The twists piling on top of each other cease to be clear, but with each successive effort to decipher them, they become increasingly sophisticatedly as the film progresses. So while the male cast is typically from the life of the bourgeoisie, the female cast is at least strange and sometimes quite out of place. The talented cast didn't save it in the finale, but it's not a bummer either. I'm not comparing it to the original films. ()

English Even though the ending is very unsatisfactory and it just felt like one big cliché to me, it's still a movie that managed to captivate me and successfully unfold a quite interesting plot in one large apartment. Maybe it's sometimes overly complicated, but even that aspect worked for me in the story. Additionally, there are great performances by the actors. Isabel Lucas is incredibly sexy, but she always is.
