English A colleague asked me what I was going to do this weekend, and I told him I would watch My Little Pony; it was recommended to me by a FilmBooster reviewer whose tips are usually very good. The colleague looked at me and said with a smile: "Yeah, these ponies are awfully cute, and especially compared to most of the children’s shows I had the misfortune to see on Animax in the morning before going to work, this one is pretty good, at last." My colleague is twenty-five years old, has no kids, and watches these ponies. Anyway, I, too, started watching the Equestria stories and was introduced to Twilight and the other characters of this show. For some reason that is hard to describe, I immediately felt that this show is truly magical. The visual aspect is just gorgeous, and the ponies are incredibly cute. The soundtrack is nice, and the tunes are melodic and very catchy; so far, I have found myself tapping my foot at least twice. The stories are mostly pretty straightforward for the most part, although you still catch yourself thinking more deeply. The characters are amazing; I think Rainbow Dash stands out the most. There are Fluttershy, Twilight, and my absolute favorite, Pinkie Pie. I do not know what that pony is taking, but I want some of that! It is very funny and amused me, even though it is quite childish, and I am looking forward to seeing what kind of crap Pinkie Pie will get up to again. So even though I am not the target audience, I have realized that I, too, probably have a five-year-old kid in me somewhere, and even though I am thirty this year, I still watch ponies, and I am not ashamed of it. I guess I am weird and should get checked out, although being normal is pretty boring. EDIT 7.9.2019. I am done, I just finished watching the very last episode, and on the one hand, I am a bit anxious because a TV series I always looked forward to watching is over again. However, on the other hand, I feel pretty good. I have even learned something, and most importantly, I have had a good time for the three years I have been watching these ponies. Plus, the conclusion was suitably epic, and the epilogue was suitably satisfying, so I am glad I gave this show, primarily aimed at teenage girls, a chance. I am probably not going to be a Bronie for good because while it was a great ride, I still somehow do not feel like it was the best thing I have seen, and even a bunch of lessons about friendship did not ultimately drive the cynicism out of me. However, it was a great, magical show, and I am glad I got to watch it; so what more could I ask for? In the end, 10/10. ()
