On a desolate country highway, two homeward-bound teens (Gina Philips and Justin Long) are nearly run off the road by a maniac in a beat-up truck and later spot him shoving what appears to be a body down a sewer pipe. But when they stop to investigate, they discover that the grisly reality at the bottom of that pipe is far worse than they could have ever suspected and that they are now the targets of an evil far more unspeakable and unstoppable 'than they could have ever imagined! The first twenty minutes are great, but it goes downhill from there until it becomes a stupid and unoriginal hodgepodge. Without original staging and a crescendo of the tension, you can’t make great horror, even if you have an attractive idea and an entertaining last scene. In particular, the dialogues and the decisions of the characters at key moments are like out of a reality show.

"Jeepers Creepers" is a slasher film that is traditional for its time, including all its flaws. The gore is rather weak, disgusting, but less bloody. However, the monster itself is well done and is definitely one that deserves attention. It is not surprising that there have been sequels and even a planned third installment. However, it is not a series that would impress. It simply entertains, if you overlook its empty moments.
