Plots(1)

An isolated sanitarium deep in the West Virginia wilderness is deserted after an inbred family of hillbilly cannibals escape and take revenge on their captors. Decades later, a group of college students seek refuge in the now abandoned hospital after a blizzard derails their plans for a weekend winter break. But when the students encounter the medical ward's most frightening former patients, their only choice is to fight back... or die trying! (official distributor synopsis)

English Wrong Turn 4 is rather B-movie-ish in places (especially the introduction), with correspondingly intelligent behaviour of the characters, but the snow-covered mountain exteriors and the nuthouse nestled within them are a nice change, there’s an abundance of nude lesbian scenes and the killings don’t disappoint. The juiciest of them – a lengthy dismemberment of a living victim – is perversely aberrant. ()

English I’ve made a screenshot so future generations will see that Wrong Turn 4 was in the red for some time, otherwise they won’t believe it. (I will comment when I recover, Filmbooster never ceases to amaze me.) After the awful third part, I thought that Declan O’Brien had managed to kill this promising franchise, but it seems that he didn’t and Fox gave him another chance. The fourth one is surprisingly a little less bad than the previous one, but it’s still brown and stinks… When they’re chopping up the victims, it’s is quite watchable, but when the characters have some interaction, the whole thing is laughable. It’s awfully acted, awfully directed, it’s really beyond my comprehension how anyone can praise it. It’s pure subjectivism. ()

English I started to watch this movie, saw the first scene and wondered what kind of bullshit was that. Then I went to grab a beer, returned slightly intoxicated and watched the whole film with expectations. Although I understand that it will make some fans of bloody slashers happy, what I saw really pissed me off. The only thing this extreme gore slaughter did for me was make me so sick that I almost threw up those pickled sausages and seven beers on the floor. The most disgusting scenes were the ones where they did a vivisection on someone. You don’t get to see more disgusting things in a movie than this. ()

English "The Scent of Blood 4: Bloody Beginning" is a dreadful sequel which, although it is sometimes nicely bloody, loses its appeal when you see those disgusting digital effects. Not to mention that the same feelings are also evoked by the characters and especially their behavior. Does a slasher really have to be made in a way that everyone is an idiot? Is it really not possible to come up with characters whom you can root for in a movie that makes sense? ()
