New Girl is a charming, offbeat comedy about friends, flings and modern relationships. After a bad breakup, free-spirited optimist Jess (Zooey Deschanel) moves in with three bachelors who have plenty of issues of their own. Winston (Lamorne Morris) is a former athlete, Nick (Jake Johnson) is a law school dropout, and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is a wannabe womanizer in love with...himself. Together with her super-hot BFF Cece (Hannah Simone), this New Girl discovers that hanging out with the guys can be a challenging - and hilarious - adventure! (official distributor synopsis)

English As a Zooey Deschanel fan, I was looking forward to the series, which made me all the more disappointed. The characters act like people who suffer from a certain degree of dementia. I didn’t detect the slightest trace of comedy. I suppose I should cry with laughter every time Schmidt takes his shirt off. Or shouldn’t I? I don't know, and that’s exactly the problem. I was bored out of my mind and I’m only giving one star to Zooey. ()

English Not acting and not relying on her disarming charm and sense of humor (and she really has one, I’m telling you), Zooey Deschanel makes silly faces in an apartment with a trio of hams without an ounce of comedy talent. Not that it is completely not worth it, but you get fed up with the overenthusiastic style after the first two episodes. One of the main stumbling blocks here is that Zooey has nobody to be her foil; she has no comedy sparing partner. It’s not that nobody is good enough to be her “straight man", but simply nobody has it in his “job description". It’s like taking Friends, eliminating all the well-written episodes, the chemistry between actors and their characters and just left that wacky Phoebe. She could probably carry the show alone for a while, but not for the whole series. But, thanks to Zooey’s cute puss, I’m still willing to endure this and live in the vain hope that the creators might rethink it. Replacing the awful Wayans was definitely the right way to go, just a shame they replaced him with another ham. ()

English The first season was enough for me to form an idea about the people in this sitcom. I’ve grown really fond of Zooey Deschanel’s looks, but it was only in this show that I found out how crazy she can be. I don’t see it as a bad thing but at the same time I don’t think that it’s often very good for the show. And that’s despite the fact that the show is based on this craziness. Then she is surrounded by three boys, each of them is slightly different, they’re all nice, but not a single one of them really gets under your skin. And that’s probably the biggest issue. You somehow can’t form an opinion and you can’t get used to the characters. And that to me seems like quite a problem for a sitcom. And that’s not to talk about the fact that in the first season some episodes were absolutely great and others we completely lame. I will definitely give the next seasons a try, but I only follow the original idea of the show because Zooey Deschanel is in it, who sometimes gets on my nerves, but whom I admire at the same time. Why else. ()
