Spy

After the first season, I’m slightly disappointed. I expect more from a British comedy series. Hopefully, I’ll get it in the second season. It seems to me that the script plays it too safe, which is a shame. More humor wouldn’t hurt. The constantly repeated jokes stop being funny the second time around. When it’s the fourth time, it gets downright annoying. The main storyline doesn’t make much sense to me. Why does Tim want to have his son in his care? Is he a masochist? Apparently. I’m giving three stars mainly for the cast, especially the superb Robert Lindsay. After watching Season 2, I'm changing the rating to four stars. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the second season more than the first one. I was amused by how the creators dealt with the obvious change of casting. A new hairstyle, problem solved. I enjoyed the frequent movie references, and the scene with the Examiner at the Christmas party was a treat. (11/27/2016)
