Plots(1)

The lush beauty and splendor of a South Pacific paradise is vividly captured in this version of Henry DeVere Stacpoole's 1903 novel. Two small children and a ship's cook survive a shipwreck and find safety on an idyllic tropical island. Soon, however, the cook dies and the young boy and girl are left on their own. Days become years and Emmeline (Brooke Shields) and Richard (Christopher Atkins) make a home for themselves surrounded by exotic creatures and nature's beauty. They learn to cope with the bewildering variety of physical changes that come with adolescence. And as they begin to mature, their childhood affections lead to a sensitive and more profound love and the birth of a child. But will they ever see civilization again? English This is a nostalgic sigh from the past when I feel like I must have been very young when I watched this movie because back then I didn't even come close to understanding what those two were experiencing and how they had to cope with the pitfalls of adolescence without anyone to advise them. Overall, it's naive, but on the other hand, I find the story pleasantly relaxed, and unspoiled. ()

English Cynicism is a bitch and nostalgia is even bigger. Brooke Shields as my childhood love and a story that, at one point, clarified many things for me. ()

English I give one point for the shot of the mating turtles, the rest is not worth talking about. Don't hit me, I'm a romantic too, but I have my limits. ()
