Battle of the Year is an international dance crew tournament that attracts all the best teams from around the world, but the Americans haven't won in fifteen years. Los Angeles Hip Hop mogul Dante Graham wants to put the country that started the Sport back on top. He enlists his hard-luck friend Jason Blake, who was a championship basketball coach, to coach his team. Armed with the theory that the right coach can make any team champions, they assemble a dream team of all the best dancers across the country. With only three months until Battle of the Year, Blake has to use every tactic he knows to get twelve talented individuals to come together as a team if they're going to bring the Trophy back to America where it started. When at the beginning of a dance movie you hear that Americans don't have a good enough team to compete with other nations, it's quite clear that by the end of the movie, they will have that team. Actually, they already have it at the beginning, but it needs to be awakened in those people. So, a basketball coach, who has enough of his own problems, hires them and turns all those rebels into disciplined guys, and they can go to the championship or something like that. Well, why bother with something more complicated, because it's mainly about relationships, relationships that are incredibly stupid, boring, and predictable. Acting-wise, it's nothing special, Josh Holloway is probably here just because he's a bit famous and has a good face. It's a waste of time, and the saddest thing is that even from the perspective of dance, there is very little of it here. The ending won't save it.
