My Brother the Devil tells the story of two brothers tested loyalty as their paths collide amidst a violent world of drugs and gangs. Mo is a young boy growing up in a traditional Egyptian household, but beyond the front door of the family's modest London flat is a completely different world - the streets of Hackney. The impressionable Mo idolizes his handsome and charismatic older brother Rashid and wants to follow in his footsteps. However, Rashid wants a different life for his little brother and will do what ever it takes to put him through college. Aching to be seen as a tough guy himself, Mo takes a job that unlocks a fateful turn of events that threatens to tear the brothers apart. In this film, it is extremely important that it did not try to be epic, but the whole footage is focused only on a few characters, mainly on two brothers. Their fate, their relationships, and conflicts with other people are so interesting that it holds the viewer's attention. It is not an action movie, but a truly human drama from London, which has really grim neighborhoods. Now, I don't mean because of the people, they are unpleasant even in noble neighborhoods, but I mean those ghettos with huge semi-decayed tower blocks. That in itself is such a depressing environment that it actually forces things to happen here, especially dark things.
