Jojo lives with his quick-tempered dad, and is often home alone. He finds an abandoned baby jackdaw that has fallen out of its nest, and against his father's wishes he takes the bird home. The bird becomes Jojo's only true friend, and helps him overcome the endless waiting for his mom's return. This minimalistic drama has won several best debut awards. (Days of European Film)

The movie might not be anything extraordinary, but the boy’s relationship with the bird was so essential that it ended up making up the movie’s entire quality, from the beginning till the very end.
