Starting where other romantic comedies finish, I Give It A Year asks what happens after the epic romance and the fairy-tale wedding? When the confetti has been recycled and the presents packed away. Since they met at a party, ambitious high-flyer Nat and struggling novelist Josh have been deliriously happy despite their differences. As those luminary philosophers DJ Kool Kat and Paula Abdul once decreed, it appears that opposites attract, Josh is a thinker, Nat's a doer, he's laissez faire and she's quite anal... but the spark between them is undeniable. Their wedding is a dream come true, but not everyone shares their excitement. Family, friends and even the minister who marries them aren't convinced that they can last. As they settle into real life together, their apparent incompatibility only makes Nat and Josh more determined to make it work, but soon the absurdities and flaws they once found so endearing are irritating the hell out of each other. Chloe, Josh's ex-girlfriend, and Guy, Nat's handsome American client, could offer attractive alternatives. With their first anniversary approaching, neither wants to be the first to give up, but will they make it? (official distributor synopsis)

English The first thing that occurred to me while watching it is that I was hoping for a slightly funnier comedy. Not that the film "Dávám tomu rok" is not funny, but let's be honest, the best jokes were all in the trailer. Unfortunately, this is a trend of recent times, which is a shame. Producers do not realize that trailers could be done differently. This way it is simple and people will still come to the movies, so why change it? I always prefer a trailer that only hints, but that is not very common nowadays. Too bad. That scene with the dove was really great, although it is true that as a whole, it was even better than the excerpt in the trailer. However, it does not change the fact that "Dávám tomu rok" could have delivered even punchier humor. More: http://www.filmovy-denik.cz/2013/04/davam-tomu-rok-2013-60.html ()

English I had a laugh, which would have been pretty much OK. But I also got confronted with ideas that I simply cannot agree with and that’s the main reason I am going to stick with a three-star review. ()
