Zaytoun

In 1982, Israel and Lebanon engage in a war. The ship of Israeli pilot, Yoni, is taken down in Beirut. The pilot survives, but is captured by a group of Palestinian refugees in Lebanese lands. Among the refugees is Fahed, a young man traumatized by the death of his father during a bombardment from Israel in Palestine. The relationship between Yoni and Fahed is at first tense and edgy, but Fahed helps Yoni escape and they both embark on a journey, through the ravaged lands of Lebanon, heading toward their respective homes. During the tough journey, the characters develop an unlikely friendship. (El Riviera Maya Film Festival)
