Persuasion

I’ve had an Austen overdose over the last two days, and I’m opting for a weaker four stars this time. Unlike Emma and Emma., this was not a comedy, hence the unsettling atmosphere. Despite various flaws, I was more or less entertained throughout the film, but one thing really gave me a pause, and if I had lived in Victorian England, I would have even thrown a piece of rotten fruit. I wasn’t left unfazed by the passionate public display of affection, I was almost expecting a crowd with pitchforks and torches to appear. (11/22/2020)
