Ordered to assist a rival gang in Okinawa to help end a mob war, a yakuza drags along two of his colleagues but ends up exacerbating the conflict. They barely survive the ensuing battle, but are forced to deal with hitmen sent to dispose of them. (Shochiku)

A melancholic gangster movie that I need to watch once more. The playing on the beach and the overall happy mood makes the killers seem nice and, like the romantic storyline, it is very untraditional. The action is bloody and uncompromising and there is no shortage of cruel jokes. And Takeshi reminds me of my uncle in the way he behaves (but I don’t mean that he goes around shooting people). When you're scared all the time, you reach a point when you wish you were dead.
