English Thorny films, especially the longer ones, have such a special poetic quality. They are mostly fairy tales, but at the same time, there is something dark, something unpleasant, underneath the surface. It is also dream-like and mysterious. Trnka was a master of this, just like he was a master of animation. Here, the animation of action scenes is incredibly pleasing, it is truly great and dynamic. ()

English I have to admit that the hysteria around Karel Zeman is a good thing, but it would be nice to see Trnka again. The last time I saw Neb was when I was a child and I've seen it again now and it's not really a fairy tale. It's a myth! ()
