Paul is a 60-year-old neurosurgeon. Married to Lucie, he has never known a day's unhappiness. But, one day, bouquets of roses begin to arrive from an anonymous sender at their home. Paul discovers that he has a secret admirer, a young woman named Lou who is forty years his junior and who insists that he once performed an operation that saved her life. As Paul tries to comprehend Lou's interest in him, his relationship with his wife takes a turn for the worse, causing both to reflect on what they have made of their lives. I noticed that Daniel Auteuil has been after a human drama from the point of view of ordinary people for a long time. Before The Winter Chill is actually a similar story. An ordinary, human story is told through a pleasant camera and subtle progress in a way that will make you still think about it a couple of days after watching. Frankly, I like movies like this a lot.
