Chris is a radio DJ who lives with his wife Karin in a small East German town. They are friends with Uwe and his wife, Ellen. When Chris crosses the sacred boundary of friendship, a series of reflections on marriage, friendship and betrayal unfold between the protagonists, each of whom grasps the matter differently. Andreas Dresen has taken his improvisational filming method to the extreme – a seven-member crew (including the actors!) shot a film unbound by a screenplay and resembling a documentary. The keen eye of the spectator and a subtle game of emotions together with casual humor elevate the realistic core to a self-conscious style that can show things unseen. (Febiofest)
