Excellent, almost unbelievable performances that essentially have nothing to criticize. Gabin and Signoret are so believable and natural that you will simply wonder why people are so mean to each other. Everything could have turned out completely differently if people just communicated a little bit more with each other. But this is simply an eternal problem.
