The Devil's Lair

Life in the suburbs of Cape Town does not offer many pleasures. Street gangs carve out their territory in violent clashes and the main source of income is drugs, the use of which is one of the strategies for survival. This observational documentary follows Braaim, the leader of one of the local gangs and the father of a family. He sells and smokes crack in the apartment where he lives with his wife and children and plans with his mates how to get rid of a rival gang. Although he sometimes wonders what effect this environment has on his children, he can't imagine any other life. (One World)
