Love Addict

It can hardly be a surprise that the latest research shows love to be the most serious addiction. It topped such drug stars as cocaine, heroin, alcohol and crisps. The viewer can learn about the various forms of “love trap” from seven protagonists in the film Love Addict. In front of the camera they confess their intimate experiences, which are full of euphoria, but also and more often full of pain connected with their attempts to fi nd a lifelong partner. The divide between the sweet fruits of fi ction; “the love addicts” dream of achieving a future with love, and the bitter fruits of reality, harvested instead, is the common denominator of all the stories. The creators make use of staged scenes based on real experiences in order to outline a wider perspective. Despair and anxiety, which the protagonists surrender to, have various manifestations; a hopeless attempt to keep a long-distance relationship, the need to save losers, and the voyeuristic observation of a desired object. They do all this in the hope that the feeling of emptiness will cease. (Academia Film Olomouc)
