Red Rose

The love story of an older man and a girl takes place in Tehran against the backdrop of the Green Revolution of 2009. One day, the young revolutionary is running with her friends from a demonstration and hides at a man named Ali's house. When Sara keeps coming back to his flat, they eventually become lovers. Their relationship clearly reflects their attitudes towards the political changes –as a revolutionary, she clearly dominates, while he remains reserved. Red Rose portrays the revolution via minimal means (almost the whole story is set inside Ali's flat), through the relationship dynamics of Sara and Ali, with revolutionary sounds remaining only outside the windows; the large scale of history is thus compared to the personal story of two people.
