A charismatic pioneer of electro-acoustic music, Eugeniusz Rudnik is the man of the analogue age. He is a member of the generation of sound engineers who, with a recording tape in one hand and scissors in the other, in radio studios that resembled rather physics' laboratories, triggered off an irreversible revolution in music theory and practice. The picture is an experimental attempt at visual expression of Rudnik's reflections on aesthetics of electro-acoustic music and its principal categories. Just like the music avant-garde of the second half of the 20th century worked with sound material of the world that surrounds us, director Zuzanna Solakiewicz works with image, seeking visual parallels to the language of Rudnik's music in pulsating nature, in the rhythm of architecture, in movement of the human body. Thanks to this exceptional film and the kind of syn-aesthetic experience it evokes, the world of electro-acoustic music opens even to an untrained ear. (IFF Bratislava)
