The 1948 February coup and its direct consequences were rendered by the Czechoslovak film throughout the forty-one years of the Communist totalitarianism. However, none of the films was as artistically convincing and realistic as Ladislav Helge’s contribution to the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovak Communist Party and the 13th anniversary of the “Victorious February”.
