Every Face Has a Name

Plots(1)

A film report from 28 April 1945 captures the arrival of prisoners freed from German concentration camps in a refugee camp in Malmö, Sweden. Director Magnus Gertten and his team of "explorers and travellers" tracked down those from the film report and provide names and stories to the faces. The anonymous shots gradually transform into images of specific people. Jewish siblings, the son of participants of the Warsaw Uprising secretly born in the camp, and an American woman whom the Nazis sent to Auschwitz on suspicion of spying talk about their feelings from long ago. The film creates a visual parallel with refugees disembarking in Europe 70 years later. Will they too remain nameless faces? (One World)
