Tereza is a beautiful, carefree and well-travelled young woman. During her journey around Macedonia, she enchants three fundamentally different men – an educated, spoiled son of a rich father, a manly and rough rebel, and a merciless Turkish officer. The film is set amidst the bloody battles for power and freedom in the first decade of the 20th century, at times when the Balkans had been governed by the Ottoman Empire for over five hundred years. Out of the five feature films directed by Macedonian Stole Popov, four became candidates for Oscar nominations and this one is no exception, despite the seventeen-year gap since his last film.
