Plots(1)

Spring has sprung, and Verne and his woodland friends awaken from their long winter's nap to discover that a large, green hedge has cropped up right through the middle of their once-natural habitat. Enter RJ, an opportunistic raccoon who explains that the world beyond the hedge is "the gateway to the good life" where peculiar creatures called humans live to eat, rather than eat to live. "For humans," RJ proclaims, "enough is never enough." (DreamWorks Animation)

English Surprising good fun. I didn’t expect much from Over the Hedge and I treated it like this year’s outsider. The animation isn’t absolutely state of the art, but that’s not so important for this movie. It’s about fun and Over the Hedge has heaps of that. Likeable characters headed by Vern the turtle and RJ the racoon set off a merry-go-round of allusions to movies (even the refrigerator looks like it came straight out of the second Matrix) and really laid back, relaxed, restful fun that you will certainly want to watch again sometime. English For an A-grade movie, this is rather unsure in technical terms, in terms of story this is also no miracle, the characters are uninteresting and one of them is absolutely unbearable (and paradoxically he is the central actor in one of the best scenes in the movie) - but thanks to the short running time and decent pace, watching this is quite a passable experience. Too bad that overall it will appeal to a younger audience, because apart from a couple of adult jokes, Over the Hedge has nothing better to offer. ()

English Over the Hedge is not an exceptional film in any regard, but on the other hand, it doesn't have any significant flaws either. In a way, it is a perfect product because the script is easily understandable for all age groups, and each family member will find just enough to leave them feeling pleasantly entertained - making it the epitome of a family movie. The charming characters stay just on the right side of kitsch, and humorous lines redeem the moments where the story teeters on the edge of sentimentality while defending family values. It includes a moderate dose of criticism of consumer society, presented in an entertaining package. The film maintains a good pace and features decent dubbing. Overall impression: 75%. ()

English Such a pleasant animated movie, which has a quite crazy plot, classic pleasant animal characters, and people as the villains. It is nothing groundbreaking, and I feel like this is just something I have seen many times before. It is fun, but not totally hilarious, and the other emotions are not portrayed superbly as a whole.
