The film takes place in Russia during the World War I. Three Hungarian POWs are on the run from their Russian captives. One of them gets shot down. Lieutenant Balogh and Miska, his servant, are brought before Szergej Dragow. The Russian offers to take them on to serve him. Balogh says yes, only to attempt to escape later. They get to the castle of baron Gontorow, where Balogh falls in love with the house parlourmaid. She is actually the baroness, Mária. Dragow and his men are searching for valuables to take from the baron. Balogh escapes, taking the valuables with him. Dragow wants to marry Mária and has Balogh caught. Eventually they are pardoned by Dragow, letting them return to Hungarian soil. (official distributor synopsis)
