English This is a very good biopic. The figure of this Czech playwright, journalist, and writer has so far inspired more adaptations and he essentially only has this one film about him (information about the 1985 TV production is still very sketchy). He is played by Zdeněk Štěpánek from Vinohrady, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Bohuš Stejskal based on an essay about his life and work by Josef Ladislav Turnovský. Štěpánek surrounded himself with convincing teammates, the best of whom are Ludvík Veverka in a great mask as his lifelong friend Erazim Voříšek and Zdena Kavková playing the true love of his life Anna Rajská, whom he unfortunately never married. J. W. Speerger as K. H. Borovský, this enfant terrible of Tyl, gave himself a large role to play. The beginnings of the Czech theater, with all the drama surrounding the roaming of the countryside and the barricades of 1848, could not have been portrayed more convincingly. If anyone is interested in this topic, they will already be familiar with the sound film The Star from the Back of Beyond. ()
