Spectacular battles, rollicking humor and lavish production values frame a sweeping romantic drama that all audiences will enjoy. This grand drama is set in 17th century Poland during the Cossack uprising against the Polish nobility. As the violent confrontation builds, a battle for the heart of a beautiful girl rages between a dahing Pole and a brutish Ukrainian. (official distributor synopsis)

English If someone wants to repeat the definition of romanticism from the period of school attendance, I recommend choosing this film, which perfectly concentrates all the characteristics of the relevant style. Great emotions, gestures, love, passions, war clashes and duels, a bit of mysticism, at that age of 15-16 I would have been excited about the above mentioned, at that time I devoured Walter Scott or Polish classics. Today, it seems a bit exaggerated to me, however, I acknowledge that considering the budget that the Poles worked with, a decent historical epic film was created for the widest audience. Additionally, well-cast. Overall impression: 55%. ()
