Plots(1)

After the terrible and mysterious car crash a young talented architect wakes up in a bizarre world. This place is made from memories of those who are in coma. Like human memory, it is fragmented, chaotic and unconsistent. This is the world inside coma, where rivers, glaciers and whole cities can fit in a single room and any laws of physics are violated. The architect has to understand how this place works, fight for his life, meet his true love, finally find the way out, to grasp the real world in a new way, understanding what coma really is. English A grand Russian blockbuster with breathtaking visuals, solid concept, and an interesting story, but it's disappointing that the action is minimal and the pace in the second half is not very captivating. The Coma has an interesting world where people are in a coma and try to survive, and there are interesting rules in place. The visuals of upside-down cities and landmarks is very beautiful, and at times, you feel like pausing the film and taking a screenshot. I enjoyed the shootout upside down on the bridge, but I was slightly bothered by the protagonist, who could have had more interesting abilities and greater charisma. Towards the end the film loses some momentum, and apart from the impressive effects, it doesn't offer much, which is a shame. The potential was higher. The Coma is still worth watching, though, nothing similar has been done before. Story****, Action***, Humor>No, Violence>No, Entertainment***, Music***, Visuals****, Atmosphere****, Tension***. 6.5/10. ()

English The Coma could be seen of as the Russian version of Inception with a smaller budget and a weaker story, but it is still a noteworthy film with some interesting ideas and a few audiovisually captivating scenes. I liked the visuals of the reapers, the look of the comatose world, and the rules in general. The film has a somewhat slower start, which changes about halfway through, after which the plot goes full speed. All the time the film has been hovering over the seemingly old-fashioned, but still rewarding question: What would we be willing to sacrifice for a perfect world in which practically anything is possible? In the end, a pleasant surprise from a Russian production. ()

English This film immediately made me think of Inception and Matrix, closely followed by Korn’s “Coming Undone” music video. The film obviously didn't seem all that original to me, but I still quite enjoyed it. I would have gladly thrown in a fourth star if it hadn't gotten a bit boring at a certain stage. Despite some bad CGI moments, I really liked the computer-generated Reaper. 3*+ ()
