Questionable occurrences rattle the home of a seemingly normal family. Despite the efforts to protect their son, it becomes eerily clear that the family's past haunts them more deeply than any ghost ever could. Everything that has happened to this family will affect everything that is to come. (Sidewalk Film Festival)

Unfortunately, the American production The Atoning shows that there was some effort to create a good horror atmosphere that builds up quite nicely and is both imaginative and scary. However, unfortunately, this does not change the fact that the dynamics and development of the movie are not very good. The opening part is way too long and unengaging. Even the ending does not save an otherwise boring movie with terrible acting. ()
