In the 1970s and ’80s, Dutch art connoisseur Michel van Rijn moved in elite circles, all the while evading Interpol and the CIA. The purported descendant of Rembrandt was actually a charismatic con man who made millions trafficking in forged and stolen art and antiquities. Even after he was caught, the cunning criminal found a surprising way to benefit from his dubious talents. Director King Adz tracks down the elusive figure, now living in hiding, to craft a beguiling, and at times unbelievable, portrait.
