English The sound version of Marianne became Marion Davies' first sound film. Few would believe it, but she was one of those actresses who were not surprised by sound film and entered it in a balanced way without the slightest hiccup. The World War I theme is based on the popularity of W. R. Hearst's The Big Parade. W. R. Hearst was behind Marion's entire career, and his tastes determined much. In the film are also parodies of popular French actors of the present and the past. Marion has an excellent French accent, and a variety of disguises, and her partner is Ukulele Ike. What was the deal with the silent version of the film, which was cast differently besides Marion? Different sources say different things. For example that the film was lost, never screened, or that it was ideal to support an audio version where movie theaters did not yet have sound. ()
