Burning

Burning has a very slow, even sluggish narrative, but with a pleasantly mysterious feel and a nice “cinematic” visual drive, especially given how intimately it is conceived and how “anti-genre” the story eventually turns out to be. (07/05/2018)

Burning is very far from Hollywood mainstream. It’s not the kind of film you’d want to watch every day, but it’s one with an undisputable cinephile aura that patiently leads the attention of the viewer in an unexpected way, and with social insight, too; it will reward you if you stick till the end. You won’t feel very well after watching it, but the world is not always a beautiful and romantic place, and this film will show you that in a very stimulating and sensitive way . (03/15/2019)

The plotline is presented in a very lengthy way and forks into many branches that may or may not be directly related to the central one. In the second half, the slow and weird drama turns into a slow and weird thriller, the ending of which leaving you, for a long period after watching the film, wondering what really happened. And I must say that, even after several hours, I still don’t have any clear answer. But the direction and acting performances are flawless. [KVIFF 2018] (07/08/2018)
