Veterans. Snatched from the Jaws of Death

  • Poland Weterani. Wyrwani śmierci

Plots(1)

During the war in Afghanistan, 44 Polish soldiers lost their lives and more than 860 were wounded. A documentary series made for FOKUS TV presents the stories of people who paid a very high price for taking part in those missions. They owe their lives to Polish doctors who managed to save them. Each of the three episodes presented here tells one soldier's story. Staff Sergeant Grzegorz Fedorowicz suffered serious injuries when an IED exploded. Doctors gave him a 10% chance of survival. Chief Corporal Michał Ożóg was the first heavily wounded Polish soldier in Afghanistan, a sniper for whose head the Taliban offered $20,000. He twice had a brush with death. Junior Warrant Officer Andrzej Sinkiewicz was seriously wounded after being hit by an anti-tank grenade launcher. His disabilities are rated at 69%. All of these men are still serving in the military. The series features unique pictures from field hospitals, the soldiers' private photos as well as footage produced for the military's needs.
