Plots(1)

The first season of anthology series Miracle Workers is a Heaven-set workplace comedy based on Simon Rich's book What in God's Name. The show stars Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni. Radcliffe plays Craig, a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity's prayers, and Steve Buscemi plays Craig's boss God, who has pretty much checked out and is ready to move on to his next project. To prevent Earth's destruction, Craig and fellow angel Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan) must answer a seemingly impossible prayer: help two humans, Laura and Sam, fall in love. (HBO Europe)

Season 1 (2019) (S01)

English Just the kind of show I needed to see. Great idea, cynical black humor, with the literally divine Steve Buscemi and with Daniel Radcliffe acting so natural I never once thought of a certain bespectacled wizard. Geraldine Viswanathan is a new discovery for me and I have a feeling I'll be happy to see her in absolutely anything from now on. ()

Dark Ages (2020) (S02)

English Completely, completely, completely different from the first series. Really only the actors and one of the writers have remained, otherwise just about everything has changed – and some of it for the worse. For example, the number of episodes increased, but that has only led to a watering down of the story, which also wasn’t that great. Miracle Workers is kind of a really long sketch show that finds itself somewhere in the middle of the series and realizes what it wants to say. A great many of the jokes are absolutely divine, some don't work so well... that makes sense. However, thanks to the reasonable running time and the sensational Geraldine Viswanathan, Steve Buscemi, and Daniel Radcliffe, I was entertained even in the weaker moments. ()
