Told in her own words, ,Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist is a sharp-witted look into Westood’s creative process and her life’s journey from 1970s punk protests to fierce independent global figure. Westwood sits alongside Gucci, Dior, and McQueen - but only Westwppd still owns and runs her empire. English One can't help comparing this to the recent documentary about the fashion world, McQueen, which like Westwood suffered mainly from being a monument more than a portrait, but it can't be helped, the comparison of these two expressive personalities definitely comes down in favor of the former, next to whose designs the famed punk designer's creations look like picnic fashions for "The Real Housewives of Hertfordshire". The documentary doesn't bother with context; only once does it let anyone other than the protagonist herself talk about her work, and it constantly jumps to the most tabloid aspects of her life, clearly pissing off even Westwood herself. Thus, the film is generally below average, and for me a weak average since I hadn’t known anything about Vivienne Westwood, so I learned something. ()
