The Cake General

In 1984, the small town of Koping is named the most boring town in Sweden by a popular television show, Rekord-Magazinet. Resident Hasse Pettersson (Mikael Perssbrandt) refuses to allow his new home to become the subject of a national joke and sets off on a mission to drum up some attention-grabbing excitement. A man who struggles with his drinking habits and financial status, Hasse decides to make the world's largest sandwich cake. By pursuing this goal and realizing his potential for success by any means, Hasse is able to attain a much-needed sense of purpose. A tale of personal fulfillment and resilience, Cake General also stands as the story of a community banding together to prove that no group of people should be cast aside or titled as irrelevant.
