In fact, we’re presently experiencing a defining moment for conspiracy theories. Daniel J. Clark’s fascinating documentary Behind the Curve dares to take on what is possibly the King of All Conspiracy Theories: that the Earth is flat instead of spherical. Flat-Earth societies have been around since the mid-20th century and were on the decline - then the internet happened, and a brand new American flat-Earth movement began to coalesce. Is planet Earth round or flat? One would think that this debate belongs to the distant past, but the opposite is true and even today there are a large number of people who firmly believe that the Earth is one big pancake. It was interesting, and to some extent frightening, to see how fervently the flat-earthers believed they were right, and were not discouraged by the failed experiments that disproved their beliefs. Personally, I can't imagine what goes through such people's minds and how they view the world around them. For me, the Earth is round!
